If you’re black, feeling misunderstood, have a way with words, and creativity is as innate to you as breathing, then you should consider acquiring a new residence in Paris. In 2009, Saul Williams followed the footpath to Paris left behind by James Baldwin, Melvin Van Peebles, Josephine Baker and others. It looks like it’s been good to Saul. He released his 4th studio album Volcanic Sunlight(2011) earlier this month. Below he talks about the meaning behind the album.
Ever wonder what would happen if you spent years pondering human existentialism in German? Apparently, something quite exalting happens. Something akin to Tom Krell’s (aka How to Dress Well) ethereal musical projects is born. His first full length album, Love Remains, is described as a sort of ghosted version of 80s and 90s R&B and we can’t help but agree. How to Dress Well has managed to extract the now banal sounds of 80s/90s R&B and revive it in an unearthly way.

A few months ago, our cool friend and lucidreamers supporter in Paris put us on to 22tracks.com, which is more or less a jukebox with 22 genres and 22 tracks/genre. The playlists are curated by Amsterdam based DJs and their main objective is to present you with the freshest songs, beats, and artists in their respective genres. All the work has been done – you can sit back and discover new artists and genres with just one click.
Illuminated x Arto Lindsay is that track that ought to be playing at the exact moment you find yourself falling deeply in love. This unassuming artist from Virginia, with deep roots in Brazil, lured us in with Invoke. Ever since then, balmy summer nights seem to be incomplete without Lindsay’s contribution to the soundscape.
I can’t turn it off.

Fader Fort by Fiat at SXSW was amazing. It definitely re-opened our eyes to how !!! Fader is. While trolling the Fader website we came across this- Fader label’s most recent artist, singer/songwriter Yuna. There are so many reasons we think this is so cool, but we’ll let you decide for yourself.
